Celebrating Halloween in Disney World: Must-Dos and Must-Sees

Since Halloween is almost here, you've probably already heard how this year, Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party was tragically canceled in lieu of the COVID-19 outbreak. But to compensate for it, there is still a lot going on around the park all the way through to November.

Halloween, and autumn/fall in general, are celebrated in full fervor at the park, and you can expect decorations weeks before its actual arrival, too long after it's gone. So even if you miss out on Halloween itself, there's plenty more you can do.

Some of the key happenings and highlights to look forward to during this time include:

Character appearances in costume

What could be more exciting than Mickey, Minnie, and other iconic Disney characters appearing in costume? You'll have all this and more to look forward to during your visit to the park, whether you go before Halloween or a little after.

It's safe to expect sightings of your favorites each year, even if things are a little different in 2020. If you head to Disney for Halloween next year or happen to be there this year, keep an eye out for Halloween-themed character costumes!

Costumes and dress up till October 31st

Since the party is canceled, Disney had announced in July that guests could come to the park in costume, and this includes guests above the age of 14

This is a once in a lifetime kind of thing because otherwise, the park does not allow guests above a certain age to dress in costume except for special occasions like their Halloween parties, etc.So if you happen to be visiting, take advantage of this special opportunity!

Unlimited snacks and merchandise

Stock up on memorabilia and merchandise when you head to Disney and enjoy one-of-a-kind goodies such as all their fall treats, Halloween themed snacks, and plenty more.

Lose yourself in a world of pumpkin spice goodness, hot chocolate, and all sorts of delicious foods and drinks. Check out some of the most popular items here.

Mini parades all around the parks

To avoid crowding and large groups forming, the park has also initiated surprise mini-parades that allow you to witness your favorite characters, mini shows, and feel that Disney magic despite the difficult circumstances.

Here's hoping Disney World stays as magical as it is, and we’re able to celebrate Halloween in the craziest ways next year!

Packing for Fall in Orlando: A Guide for First-Timers

Orlando is located right in the heart of The Sunshine State, so it's unsurprisingly warm for pretty much the entire year. But while you can count on warm sunny days to accompany you all through your trip, it’s important to be prepared for changes in the weather.

You can expect noticeable temperature shifts during the afternoon and night, which is why you should prepare ahead of time and pack your bags accordingly.

Look into booking a vacation home close to Disney, where you can unpack easily and stopover in the middle of the day for a break and quick change of clothes.

Without further ado, here goes your ultimate fall packing list for your Disney and Orlando vacation:

Keep light, breezy shirts, and tops.

When you’re hitting the parks and looking to explore and get around town, you’ll want to be as comfortable as possible.

Since the major of your day will be spent outdoors traversing from one park to the next or hopping from ride to ride, your clothes should be breathable, comfortable, and allow you to move.

This is especially important in light of the park’s rules and safety measures put in place by Disney World that requires you to wear a mask during your trip. Prioritize your comfort and safety!

Pack shorts and skirts for the day.

For bottoms, you can easily get away with shorts, skirts, and other warm-weather clothes for the most part. In fact, it'll work best for the hot days you spend around the park. You can pack pants and jeans for the evening, however, especially if you'd like to dine out somewhere nice after hitting the parks.

Keep light sweaters and cardigans.

This is important because a light sweater or cardigan can help you switch from day time to night time and stay comfortable.

A conventional winter jacket might be too much, but something light like knitwear, cotton sweaters, summery jackets, and lighter sweatshirts can help you stay comfortable during the chilly evenings.

It helps to have access to something warmer when you're out, especially at the park, where open-air tends to get chilly at night.

Of course, fall doesn’t mean you have to give up on summery fun! The weather is still warm enough for you to go for a swim or dip in the pool at your vacation rental in Orlando.

4 Safety Tips For Families As Disney Reopens

The COVID-19 outbreak has been a damper, to say the least, affecting people the world over. Whether you miss being at school, seeing your friends, or socializing in general, or have had to postpone and delay major life plans and decisions, it’s been a tough adjustment to make.

Many people have had to put a hold on travel plans and vacations, with most of summer 2020 going by in trying to gauge the situation and see when it was safe enough to move about.

Now that public spaces and entertainment venues have started to opening, travel restrictions are easing up, and people are getting the hang of the new normal, you can plan for that big Disney World vacation you wanted to go on.

But keep in mind that safety is extremely important to maintain, so you need to follow these tips and advice as Disney reopens and your head on vacation:

1.     Find the safest travel alternatives with your group.

Now that you’ve found a social bubble to travel and vacation with, it’s important that all of you choose the safest travel option available. If you can, avoid air travel because you’ll have to wait in long queues, be put in crowded carriers, and be unable to maintain safe social distancing while you're traveling.

You should also factor in at least a few days of quarantine and self-isolation before and after your travel, so plan the timeline of your trip with that in mind.

2.     Keep your itinerary focused on outdoor activities.

While you’re headed to Disney World, keep your activities focused on outdoor rides and avoid too many crowds and closed spaces such as theatres and restaurants. You can't control the way other people behave, but you can choose to be selective and careful with the activities you participate in.

3.     Always keep facial coverings while in public places.

Additionally, you should always use appropriate face masks and coverings while in public. When visiting the park, taking public transport, or even heading on a grocery run, be sure to keep your face covered and protected, use sanitizer and disinfectants, and other safety essentials. Carry your own water bottles and snacks too if necessary, and don't leave behind disinfectant wipes.

4.     Follow all safety precautions in place by Disney World.

Disney has released a set of safety measures and SOPs that all park-goers must abide by. These are for your safety and good health, given that the virus is highly contagious and can affect different people to varying degrees of intensity, with some being asymptomatic, while others end up gravely ill.

In all of this, it’s also important to choose an accommodation that is private, comfortable and safe. You can book a rental vacation home near Disney through Blue Travel, and choose a luxury vacation home in Orlando where you can stay safely, away from large crowds and people.
